You can use the Academy Program to specifically prepare for a master’s degree, to explore an academic subject as a high school student—or for your personal education.

Costs
Studying at Germany’s only state-run distance-learning university is affordable. When comparing us to other universities, please remember that the fees are charged per semester, not per month. Because you choose your own modules, you determine the cost of each semester yourself.
Course Registration
Academy students are not required to follow any specific curriculum and are generally free to choose their courses based on their individual needs. We recommend that you register for only as many modules as you can realistically handle. Once you have been admitted, you can register for courses independently in studyPORT.
As a guideline: Modules are worth 5, 10, or 15 ECTS credits – with 30 ECTS credits corresponding to a full-time workload of approximately 40 hours per week. In the part-time program, students take one to two modules per semester, depending on the module’s scope; in the full-time program, they take two to three modules per semester. For some modules, Academy students even have the opportunity to take the corresponding exam. You can find out which modules are open to Academy students here:
- Open Access Studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (KSW)
- Open Access Studies at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Sceince (M+I)
- Open Access Studies at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics (WIWI)
- Open Access Studies at the Faculty of Law (REWI)
The modules for the Faculty of Psychology and the First State Examination in Law cannot be studied in the Open Access Studies program.
