What is my role within CATALPA?

As a doctoral student with an interdisciplinary background (sociology, political science, history), I am part of the AIM-HE project, where my team and I investigate the use of AI technologies in universities. In this research project, we examine how factors on the micro, meso, and macro levels – ranging from individual motivations to institutional structures and higher education policies – influence the implementation and acceptance of AI in higher education. I am also a member of the CATALPA executive board.

Why CATALPA?

What I value most about CATALPA is the interdisciplinary exchange and the opportunity to connect research on digital learning, teaching, and living from different perspectives. The collaboration within CATALPA makes it possible to critically and empirically analyze digital transformation in educational institutions from a variety of disciplinary angles. Personally, I aim to contribute to a better understanding of how AI and digital technologies shape change processes in higher education and to provide impulses for a fair, inclusive, and sustainable development of universities.

    • Research Associate and Doctoral Researcher in the AIM-HE project (since October 2025)
    • Master of Arts in World Studies, Bielefeld University (2025)
    • Student Assistant in the OrA project (2021–2023) and the ORC project (2023–2025) at the FernUniversität in Hagen (CATALPA)
    • Bachelor of Arts in History and Spanish, Leibniz University Hannover (2021)
  • I am particularly interested in the interactions between technology, organizations, and actors in higher education. My research focuses on how modern technologies transform learning and organizational processes and which resilience mechanisms universities develop in response to digital transformation. Another key focus is on questions of inclusion and equity in digital learning environments.
